Is that correct so far? Then the carb was on top of this. Then comes the spacer. I have a paper one between the manifold and spacer. I put the new ones on same as I found the old ones but they could have been wrong. I'm kind of thinking I have an issue near or with the carb? I'm not sure I have the correct gaskets and I can't find any good info in the shop manual. ![]() Couldn't locate any leaks by spraying around the carb. I've tried tapping and wiggling the wiring at the module and the coil and distributor. This is purported to be the car that Jones first listened to. It has new distributor cap, rotor & wires and fuel filter. Purchased new by Country Music legend, George Jones. The EGR is not sticking on either as far as I can tell. It does have the aluminum EGR spacer but I can find no issues with that. I can't find any vacuum leaks and as far as I know I have the carb adjusted well enough for it to run (I'm no carb expert). The idle fluctuates up and down below 1000 RPM (if I recall.between around 500-800) and occasionally it will stall out. ![]() It runs fine while you are driving (for the most part) but when coming to a stop it idles like crap. Hoping someone has run across this before and can offer some advice. I bought this 79 this past summer from the original owner and it needed (still needs) some work but my main concern is I just can't seem to get it to run right and it's driving me nuts!Īdmittedly I haven't checked every little thing but have checked enough potential things. I have owned Tbirds since the mid 80s (a 66 Town Hardtop was my second car) and currently own two.a 64 hardtop and a 79 Heritage. ![]()
